A 40s House Dress with Charm

I made this cotton dress so long ago, but I never got it photographed until now. The material is a beautiful vintage cloth that I found from Vivaciouslady Vintage in a splashy print of greys, pinks, and muted greens. The pattern was a basic shirtwaist dress from Eva Dress pattens that I altered. I changed up the neckline and bodice to make it into a sweetheart neckline instead a regular V neckline. One of my favorite things to do is to take basic patterns and alter them to make new designs. It is a fun brain activity to stay sharp, and it also expands my pattern library.

With it I wore a pink vintage sweater and apron. I do dress up for housework! Why? I feel more productive when I dress up. I'm not sure how much more productive I really am but I *feel* like I get more accomplished when I do. However, a lot depends on what I am doing. If I'm doing yard work or something I know I am going to get dirty, then I wear my jeans and a shirt. I have a couple pairs of jeans from Freddies of Pinewood I got off of Poshmark and I love them. They have that retro look and are super durable.
