Grey, yellow, and orange. Honestly this is a color combination that I NEVER would have come up with on my own. No kidding. Before I made this look up, I put it on the dress form. Before wearing it myself, I wanted to see it in real life. It is such a weird combination but seeing it made up; it is not that bad. I kind of like it. It's definitely different. Like in my previous advertisement recreation, which you can see
here, I wanted to use pieces I already had at hand. I had a yellow swing coat, a grey late 40s suit, and an orange hat and purse. Although I did not have the same pieces in the ad, I had similar colors, so I like to think I used the advertisement well and stayed reasonably true to it. One accessory that I made for this look was the corsage of felt flowers. I had the felt in my stash and I thought the colors were close enough. Using a late 40s, early 50s pattern I cut, shaped and stitched up a felt corsage for the look.
For this interpretation, I stayed true to the current season (winter . . . .) and used a wool suit instead of a dress although I do I have a grey dress that would work. I think come spring I will recreate this look again using the dress and possibly the same accessories because I do not have that much orange in the wardrobe. It is not a color I reach for too often. Until then, this is what I have. I am really happy with it! This look turned out better than I thought it would.
