For the coming year I really want to challenge myself to shop my own closet more. I want to find new ways to wear my dresses by adding a collar or a scarf in a new way. I want to see what outfits I can make when I am really pushed to be creative. I'm not sure how well I will really do in this self-imposed challenge, but I am really going to try. I really want to embrace that "make and mend" spirit.
So, that means you are going to see a lot of the same old dresses over and over again on here but styled differently to stay new and fresh. You will see a lot more capsule wardrobe posts. I really enjoyed making them and based on emails and comments you did too! Thank you!! This is something I am really looking forward to. I am excited to see how many ways I can style my favorite dresses with different collar, clips, and so on. I see this as a creativity exercise for myself, and I hope you enjoy it too. I know the idea of seeing the same clothes over and over can be boring, but I am hoping it will not be so bad. I won't swear off shopping entirely though! Actually, I have been focused on getting items off my wish list. My ultimate vintage dream items. I've gotten a couple of them already and I'm excited to show them to you.
Will there be any sewing posts??? Right now, I have a few lovely lengths of dressmaking fabric in my cabinet that are dying to be made up into something, anything. I have been sitting on these fabrics for a really long time, and I would really like to see them get out of there and to my closet. Mostly because the cabinet these fabrics are in is a cabinet I really want to remodel with some wallpaper and paint. So, you will see some sewing related posts on here but not a lot. You will see some accessories get made up! So, I hope you like white collars and felt flowers. I want to try to bust some of my stash, stuff that's been sitting around for a while.
I am also really excited to show you some excerpts from some of the books I have been collecting! Books about how to dress from the 1940 and 1950s. They cover everything about what to have in a basic wardrobe, how to pair colors and textures together and so much more! I have a couple posts in the draft folder now about how to build a basic wardrobe and then from there we are going to build on that. There is also advice on how to apply makeup and how to dress one's hair. The advice, I thought, was really good and I am really excited to share it with you. So there is going to be some really good stuff coming up in 2026!
So that is what I got planned for the coming year. Wearing what I already have and loving it and showing you some great 1940s and 1950s beauty content!
