A Crown of Violets

I love those little floral tilt hats but I am afraid they are dreadfully expensive and much harder to find than the other straw or felt creations out there. Then I finally decided to splurge on one. I decided why not. I am so glad I bought one because it was not only adorable as could be, but it let me study a real in the . . .flesh? Floral?

Studying images is great but getting my hand on an original was a game changer because it let me see firsthand why every time I made a floral tilt hat; it did not turn out right. To start, the originals are actually much smaller than I thought they would me and used a smaller flatter base. Using my new to me original as my inspiration, I took the two I made years ago and re made them. I took them apart stem by stem and I am so glad I did. I made them new bases and then re arranged the stems I had into what I think are much more accurate reproductions.

Will I be making more of these in the future? I most certainly think so and I am already plotting and planning what other color ways I want. I do have enough floral bits to make another one. Maybe a pink and red one for Valentine's Day? Possibly! I am glad I managed to make something this month. I am hoping to make something at least once a month to help me get back into the swing of things. One step at a time . . .
