All That in a Flour Sack

I wanted a quick, fun and easy thing to make just before the summer started and I also wanted to do something with these flour sacks I had sitting in my sewing cabinet. Then it hit me, if potato sack was good enough for Marilyn Monroe, then a flour sack was good enough for me! If you are not familiar with the story of how Marilyn found herself modeling in a potato sack, I suggest you look it up. It's a good story. But the short of it was that she wanted to prove a point that she looked good in anything, even a potato sack.

This was so easy to make. All I did was slope the shoulder line to suit me, cut in some arm holes, added a back zipper, and some darts for shaping. Since the sack was a but short on me (well, shorter than I liked) I added a fringe of a scrap of similar flour sack material. Done. It was so simple and easy and fun. To wear with it, I added glamour in styled hair, lipstick and some rhinestone jewelry. Well that's all I have to say about this really fun opportunity to turn a humble old flour sack into something truly glamorous!
