It has been a tumultuous start to 2026. Where do I begin?! So far, this year is not starting off like I had planned. But then again, does anyone's year ever start off like they think it would? With that said and with everything going on, I have made the decision to step away from my public social media accounts. You may have noticed my Instagram account is long gone and you may have saw my post that I will no longer be updating my blog's Facebook account either. With all that has happened the last few months, I found I was really struggling with keeping them all updated and it was becoming less of a hobby and more of a pain in the rear. And, like my dad says, "when it stops being fun, then it's time to stop". I think those are really wise words when it comes to hobbies. And playing the social media game just stopped being fun when it felt like a chore.
Let's face it, it is a lot of work. To do it right, it has to be updated daily and making content - videos, photos, text, etc. is a job in of itself. For someone who is a self-employed farmer, is taking care of a loved one who needs special care, and looking after an elderly neighbor, and for someone who is just trying to hold it all together . . . . It was more than I could eat. My plate was full and I could not finish what was on it. So that means some stuff just had to go. . . . Playing the Social Media game was first on the chopping block and going forward I'm just going to keep my vintage fashion fun here on the blog.
Blogging is old school compared to all the other sharing platforms but for me it works. I can take the few photos I do get, write up some text and schedule my posts. I can get in a month's worth of blogging in a day if I plan it right. Perfect for someone like me! I love blogging. I love sharing my sewing and craft projects and my vintage fashion finds. It's like a living journal.

So, I'm going to give you a little bit of "behind the scenes" today. One technique I really make use of for blogging is batch blogging. I collect up my content and then in one day I make up my posts. I do it once a week if I can. I hope you liked my felt flower series for February. That was an example of batch blogging. You probably noticed the same hair, makeup and dress for all the flowers. That was because I did it all in one day and scheduled out the posts to cover the month of February. Since I had so much going on, and still wanted to do a little blogging, I had to do it that way. It is like letting the blog run on auto pilot in a way. Is it cheating? A little bit but hey, it works.

Speaking of cheating, right now I am really supposed to be cleaning the house - laundry, mopping, you name it. The housework has really been slipping over here as of late. But hey, priorities. . . Then I realized what was I going to post when my felt flower series was over? Then it hit me, the laundry basket. No kidding, I put it on the dryer, I went to pick something up and the basket nailed me on the head because I did not put it on the dryer all the way. I was in a hurry. I thought I would do a garment post of my housework outfit. Why not. It's vintage too.
My outfit for the day is a dark splashy printed rayon dress, over it is a green vintage half apron. The sweater is a reproduction sweater from The House of Foxy. To motivate me to get up, get stuff done, I do dress up for just bumming around the house. I feel like I get more done this way. I also do hair and makeup - no joke. It helps me feel put together and less like a bum. One of my favorite things to wear around the house are my aprons. I love the little buggers! I have stacks of them and wear them with gusto. They look cute and really do protect my clothes from cleaning products and dust. Usually, I don't wear all true vintage for around the house, I like to wear my own sewn clothes or reproduction pieces. Today was a good day so I wanted to dress up a little bit more.
