My Christmas Party Inspiration

This year I get to play hostess to my family's Christmas Cookie Exchange. Every year my dad's side gets together and there is a little morning "party" where we all exchange cookies, cakes, and breads we have made. There's coffee, hot chocolate, and of course sweets! I love it! It's a highlight for me and especially so because last year it didn't happen - we were all way too busy. But this year it is totally on and at my place no less. I am so happy. To help me get into the spirit, I made a little inspiration collage. I enjoyed making the ones for my wardrobe inspiration and figured why not another one? This time the theme is vintage/ retro Christmas. I am also taking advantage of this to really decorate my house just the way I want to. Talk about a fun process and a great mindfulness activity too.

Of course it's all going to be in vintage style!! Full on 1940s and 1950s from the top to bottom. Most of my ornaments are vintage already and I already plan on making good use of them. For my table, I have a couple vintage tablecloths which I plan on using as well. Question is, which one! I have updated my greenery and garlands this year which I am really happy about. I treated myself to something much nicer than the ones I had before, something more realistic and natural looking.

For my contribution, I am offering a sweet and a savory. One thing that I have always wanted to try was a charcuterie Christmas Tree. It's very midcentury and something that was fairly popular in the 1950s and 1960s for the brave and creative foodie. I had seen many in my old magazines and now I get to try making one for myself. I already have the form so just need the ingredients. As for my sweet selection, I am not sure yet. Still working on that one. Naturally there will be updates on how it all went.
