This year I made a priority to get out into my local community more and start off my holiday season on the right foot to build new memories and maybe a couple new traditions too. This year I signed up for a fun crafting event at my local museum to make a Victorian Kissing ball. Dare I say it, I had a *ball*. The event was so well organized by the volunteers that I am already hoping to participate again next year and actually make this a little tradition for myself. Below is me with my kissing ball.
After the crafting event, I went downtown and checked out the local farmers market and shops. I tried to hit as many as I could and some that I normally do not go into. You never know what you are going to find unless you go looking. I took a break at my new favorite shop - le bon macron and then was off to a movie and some dinner at my favorite restaurant. It was a great day shopping, dining, and just chillin' (the day was both very relaxing and cold, I mean, it's officially winter here).
My outfit for the day was a soft grey 1940s wool suit from Over Attired Vintage and under it a white embroidered blouse from Vivaciouslady Vintage. The hat is an original 40s tilt hat that I have had for years. It actually paired really well with my modern coat that has great vintage vibes. If you are looking to add more vintage to your wardrobe but are struggling with adding a period looking coat, do not overlook modern ones! If you know what features to look for, you can find modern coats that can pass for vintage looking ones. The one I am wearing here was found at Macy's a few years back.
For a pop of color, PINK!! I have my own little tradition, every year before the holiday season starts, I gift myself a Christmas corsage. This year I really wanted a pink one. That was actually hard to find!! Especially one I could afford. I had no idea that pink vintage Christmas stuff was so pricy. I got lucky on this one though, it was part of a lot of two and I got an additional one with this one. That helped break down the cost for me a bit and make this particular corsage more affordable to me in my mind. I love it! It's totally different compared to my other ones which are dominantly red/ green.
Thank you for all the love and support!! I have been receiving quite a few messages from you all about my sister's engagement party. You are all right, it is more a reflection of them than me but it is still really frustrating! On top of that it was a rocky start to my year which was just frustrating on so many levels. I am hoping that next year will be better and I have already started taking steps to make sure that is so. So far, my year is ending waaaay better than how it started! If you follow me on my other social media then you already know that I have won an award from Revival Vintage UK which was so amazing and appreciated. I have the certificate hanging in my living room as I type. Needless to say, I did a little celebratory shopping for Black Friday, I mean, can you blame me? Well, that's all I have for right now. I think I am going to do a little more decorating and then relax. But, before I go, I really want to say thank you to those to take the time to read this stuff, you really are the sweetest folks💖.
