This year I paid a visit to the Monet Garden in Muskegon. I found out about it online and because I love a good garden, I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. Although small, this dainty garden is truly beautiful and is inspired my Monet's Paintings. The center piece of the garden is a small pond complete with lily pads, bright orange fish, and of course a blue bridge which I just had to take advantage of. The garden also featured a selection of local flowers which lucky for me were in their prime. Close to the gardens was the historic district and I got to see the Hackley and Hume houses. Someday I will come back to get a tour of the interiors because the exteriors are Ahhhh- Mazing!
I thought this garden was also the perfect backdrop for my newest make! I made this for a special occasion: The Cars for Cancer Pin Up Pageant. I didn't get many photos of that event because I was . . well. . . .busy. However, I hope to get some photos to share eventually . . . I didn't win but that's o.k. because the day was still really lovely. The dress was made from my favorite and tried and true Eva Dress Shirtwaist pattern and the fabric was an exciting print from Telalinda. I am so glad I paired these two together because the combination really worked in style and in being weather appropriate. The fabric was easy and comfortable to wear in the heat and humidity while the simple dress pattern was modest but still very breezy.
