An Evening in a 1940s Cocktail Dress

So, I had an opportunity to really dress up and go out for an evening to celebrate a cousin's wedding. For this affair, my first outfit plan was a total bust - literally! I put on the dress and as I did up the zipper I discovered extensive thread rot, and the threads gave out! It's not a big deal because I can sew up the seams again, but it meant a very last-minute wardrobe change that gave me 25 minutes to get ready!! In a panic I went into my closet and pulled this late 40s dress in chocolate brown rayon crepe with heavily sequined front yoke. With it I paired my cobra skin pumps, mink stole, and pearl jewelry. Just as I was wrapping up, my ride pulled up and away I went. I'd say this isn't too bad for a last-minute wardrobe change! The evening was wonderful, and no one knew I had pulled this look together at the last minute.
