My sister's wedding is in April of 2025, and I am so happy and excited for her. The wedding will be in Texas, and I am taking this as an opportunity to stock up on some new clothes. Her color for the wedding is a light misty blue and I am taking that as my theme for my whole wardrobe for the occasion. Before splurging on new pieces, I did ask her if it was ok for me to wear my signature vintage look. I know my wardrobe can be a surprise to some because it is out of the ordinary and I did not want to shock her new family any more than necessary. She said yes except the bridesmaid dress has to be modern. Otherwise, what I wore she didn't care about. I agreed to that and then started searching for some vintage inspiration. I started searching for pieces to serve as my going away outfit, the dress for the wedding rehearsal, the rehearsal dinner, then clothes for seeing the town because we will be playing the role of tourist while there. This will be my first time in Texas, so I am very excited. In addition to clothes for the hot Texas climate, I wanted something special for leaving Michigan and Michigan in April can be chilly. The biggest challenge to all of this is that I want my whole wardrobe to be able to fit into ONE suitcase!! So, my wardrobe has to be able to fold up small and every piece has to be a part of a capsule wardrobe. YIKES! But challenge accepted.
My main inspiration was spring. Soft blues, minty greens, hints of pink, fun colorful rayon dresses in pretty prints, exciting floral hats, simple shoes to go with every outfit, and simple gloves. In searching for pieces, I found plain white heels and plain black ones too. I'm currently planning on white and black gloves to match my shoes. For hats, I already have a bold fluffy floral tilt hat and a soft pink and white feathered saucer hat. I have a blue plaid suit for leaving Michigan and navy-blue rayon suit for Texas. I have a green rayon suit and a minty green dress too. For the rehearsal dinner, a pink lace dress with a sweetheart neckline.
For this wardrobe I don't plan on making too many pieces except maybe trimming out some hats to freshen them up a bit. I may even do a matching corsage for some of them. I am not sure yet . . .I usually do a millinery craft once a year and I have not done one yet. I may do one before the year is out however to add a really floral spring like touch to my wardrobe. As for sewing any actual garments I do not plan on anything. Actually, I have not done much sewing for myself this year at all! Only a fraction of I usually do because I have been so busy and also just have not felt like sewing lately. To be honest, sewing just does not interest me at the moment which seems quite shocking to me. I am hoping that after trimming out a hat or two I may get the sewing motivation I need but I don't know.
